How to choose and match your trousers when you are a tall and thin man.
Are you long and slender and searching for jeans or trousers that fit your body type?
Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
1-Avoid slim or skinny fits unless you want an ultra rock look. In this case, choose black stretch skinny trousers to be worn fairly short with black ankle boots. On top, choose to combine a top that is also fairly close to the body, but without being tight.
2-choose jeans or trousers that are long enough. It goes without saying (the "floor-length" look is not recommended for extra tall men (it gives the impression that you haven't found the right trousers), but in the right size...in fact, many taller, slimmer men choose jeans or trousers that are several sizes too big to be worn at a reasonable length; the effect is not very appealing. Just because you are long doesn't mean you have to be dressed like a sack, on the contrary, you should flatter your figure that many would envy you. So choose jeans or trousers in length 34 if you are up to 1m85, length 36 for men up to 1m93, length 38 for extra tall men.
The rules for the length of jeans or trousers:
A pair of jeans is most often worn with a hem that breaks twice over the top of the shoe. This length allows for a more casual look and ensures that the jeans won't ride up over your socks if you were to sit on a sofa, for example. Having one or two pleats on the shoe breaks up the slim silhouette and keeps you away from the "wire" risk. This length will be enough to allow you to have a little turn up on your jeans...absolute luxury for an extra tall man.
If you want to follow perfectly the classical rules of trousers wearing, you should have trousers that make a fold on the shoe (it "breaks" once). This rule applies to chino trousers (such as the FROG by CUB). We can however propose an exception to this rule for the trousers narrower in bottom of leg and which make more dressed... you can decide to wear it a little tubular thus a little shorter (attention, your silhouette will appear a little lengthened).
The FELIS model from CUB is a good example of trousers with a dressier look that support a slightly shorter length than the classic one or two pleats on the shoe.
3-Opt for standard size jeans (low rise, if you have a short bust), avoid high rise jeans or trousers, as the match leg effect will be enhanced. A pair of jeans or trousers with a standard waistline should be worn 2 or 3 centimetres below your belly button. Note that the back of the trousers can go up a little higher to avoid the famous plumber's smile when bending down, dreaded by all men, whether they are extra tall and thin or more robust.
4-Don't choose jeans that are too tight for your body type. Straight or adjusted fit jeans (fitted on the thigh, but straight from the knee up) are much better provided you choose the right length (they should 'break' once or twice over your shoes). Men's jeans come in 2 inch sizes (30US, 32US, 34US...), but the CUB brand is very suitable for tall and slim men, they offer half sizes from size US 28, you can choose jeans or trousers size 29 length 38 or jeans size 31 length 38 for example.
5-don't just focus on dark colours, you are thin, don't make your legs disappear, you can also afford lighter colours
in jeans:
shaded,
bright blue or lighter than raw indigo,
light brown
ochre
faded indigo (vintage)
in trousers :
light grey
brick
light beige (sand)
white
these colours are all very easy to match with shoes, black, navy or brown, depending on the top you choose.
